WE WANT MILES!

A 2026-os nyár Miles Davis születésének 100. évfordulóját jelenti, és a világ kétségkívül meg fogja ünnepelni ezt a monumentális mérföldkövet. Marcus Miller We Want Miles! projektje izgalmas tisztelgést ígér nemcsak a jazz, hanem a teljes zene történetének egyik legfontosabb alakja előtt.

Marcus Miller egy robbanásra kész együttest állított össze, amelyben helyet kaptak Miles Davis 1980-as évekbeli visszatérő zenekarának eredeti tagjai is: Marcus Miller basszusgitáron, Mike Stern gitáron, Bill Evans szaxofonon és Mino Cinelu ütőhangszereken játszik. A tehetséges trombitás, Russell Gunn – aki az elmúlt évtizedben Marcus Millerrel turnézott – Davis zenéjének egyedi értelmezését hozza majd előtérbe.

A We Want Miles! projekt műsorán szerepelnek az 1981-es, Japánban rögzített legendás We Want Miles! koncertfelvétel darabjai, valamint Miles Davis híres életművének klasszikus kompozíciói az 1950-es és 60-as évekből egészen utolsó korszakáig – a Tutu (1986) és az Amandla (1989) albumokig –, amelyeket Marcus Miller szerzett és producerként jegyez. Az együttes Miles pályafutásának minden fontos korszakából játszik majd zenéket, de egyúttal továbbviszik Miles örökségét a jövőbe, és olyan zenei irányokat is felfedeznek, amelyeket valószínűleg ő maga is örömmel játszott volna tovább.

Summer 2026 will mark the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis’ birth, and the world will undoubtedly celebrate this monumental milestone. Marcus Miller’s We Want Miles! project promises to be an exciting celebratory tribute to one of the most important figures in not just jazz but in the overall history of music.

Marcus Miller has assembled an explosive group, including the original members of Miles Davis’ 1980s comeback band, featuring Marcus Miller on electric bass, Mike Stern on guitar, Bill Evans on saxophone and Mino Cinelu on percussion. The talented trumpeter Russell Gunn, who has toured with Marcus Miller for the past decade, will bring his unique interpretations of Davis’ music to the forefront. 

The We Want Miles! project will feature selections from the iconic 1981 We Want Miles! live recording in Japan, along with classic compositions from Miles’ celebrated catalog spanning the 1950s and 60s, right up to his final era of Tutu in 1986 and Amandla in 1989, both of which Marcus Miller composed and produced. The group will play the music from all of the important eras of Miles’ career but will also take Miles into the future and explore some other things that he might have appreciated playing going forward.
